Ilona Đorić is working on a national project supported by Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Developement, entitled: “Molecular characterization of thyroid gland tumors: biological and clinical aspects”. The aim of the project is to identify and characterize novel molecular markers that could improve differential diagnostics and prognostics in thyroid pathology. The main focus of her research are the molecular mechanisms causing deregulation of matrix metalloproteinase-9 in papillary thyroid carcinoma, and its consequences on tumor progression.
