Organisation Group: Department for Endocrinology and Radioimmunology

Academic Degree: PhD in Biology

Current position: Research Associate

Education:

2001-2006: BSc in Biology (Master equivalent), Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, Serbia

2008-2014: PhD in Biology, Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, Serbia. Dissertation Title: “Expression and Activity of Matrix Metalloproteinases-2 and -9 as Potential Prognostic Markers of Human Thyroid Tumors”.

Research Field:

Ilona Đorić is working on a national project supported by Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Developement, entitled: “Molecular characterization of thyroid gland tumors: biological and clinical aspects”. The aim of the project is to identify and characterize novel molecular markers that could improve differential diagnostics and prognostics in thyroid pathology. The main focus of her research are the molecular mechanisms causing deregulation of matrix metalloproteinase-9 in papillary thyroid carcinoma, and its consequences on tumor progression.

Membership in International and National Societies:

Member of the Serbian Biological Society
