Master’s thesis: “The effect of aspirin and its nitro derivatives on apoptosis of neutrophil rat granulocytes in vitro“, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Belgrade, Serbia (2005) 

PhD in in Medical Sciences-Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Belgrade, Serbia (2012). PhD thesis: “The effect of excretory-secretory antigen of Trichinella spiralis muscle larvae and anthelmintic mebendazole on melanoma cells in vitro and in vivo”.

Research Field:

Engagement in scientific work in the field of of immunoparasitology, especially in studies with the focus on helmint Trichinella spiralis (TS) and the ability of this parasite and its products to modulate the immune response and to influence the course of autoimmune and malignant disease. Examination of the mechanisms used by Trichinella and its antigens to suppress the tumour growth on the model system of mouse melanoma B16.

As a member of Reference Laboratory for Trichinellosis he is involved in monitoring of the situation in Serbia regarding Trichinella infection in animals and humans.

Professional Activities:

Team member in Military Medical Academy projects 2000-2006, and National projects from 2006. Currently working on the National project: “Mechanisms of the immune response to parasitic infection, or exposure to parasite antigens, and the concomitant modulation and/or prevention of unrelated diseases” (no. 173047, Ministry of education, science and technological development of Republic of Serbia, 2011-2019).

Participated as Management Commitee Substitute in the international project: COST action FA 1408 “A European Network for Foodborne Parasites (Euro-FBP)” (2015-2019).

Other responsibilities:

Active participation in manufacturing of: a) in vitro diagnostic tools for serological diagnosis of autoimmune and parasitic diseases, b) antibodies, c) ES antigen of T. spiralis; and engagement in the performance of serological tests for diagnosis of parasitic diseases. Responsible person for organization of external quality assessment to detect Trichinella larvae in meat by the Magnetic Stirrer Method.
